BOPA Eid Celebration

Eid fundraising in association with Fountain of Lights - Women's Group

Ms Shagufta Khan, Vice Chair, BOPA and Mrs Irum Sheikh, Treasurer, BOPA organised Eid-Fundraising event at Muslim Resource Centre. BOPA joined a women’s group called “Foutain of Lights – Muslim Woman group” founded in the memory of a Muslim woman activist – Late Mrs Jumeila Quereshi MBE.

They were supported by Mrs Farah Mahmood (BOPA) who organised a team of young volunteers and arranged a grand celebration in Muslim Resource centre. This was the first BOPA event that directly connected its activities to Muslim community in Coventry & Midlands area.

Lord Mayor of Coventry Councillor Hazel Noonan, Councillor Ann Lucas, Leader of Coventry City Council, Mr Jim Cunnigham MP, Mr Amrik Singh Ubhi, Director, Sikh Niskam Centre from Birmingham, Mr Mark Taylor, Chair, UKIP, Coventry, Councillor Jaswant Singh Birdi and many other local dignateries took part in this celebration.

The event was organised to celebrate the spirit of charitable giving, peace making and to raise funds for innocent people including children sufferring in Gaza, Seria and other parts of the world.

BOPA managed to raise approx £ 16,000 for Islamic relief through direct donations and tax relief.
