The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. Normally large companies sign this pledge but BOPA with its high profile in the Commonwealth Communities in UK, managed to persuade the British Armed Forces to agree to sign this Covenant as a Voluntary Community Group. I was really surprised to find that even Metro Mayor Mr Andy Street mentioned that they would be signing the Covenant for West Midlands Combined Authority soon.
Brigadier Jock Fraser, Commander for South Western Fleet of Royal Navy signed the Covenant on behalf of British Armed Forces with myself signing on behalf of BOPA. Dr Rakesh Sachdev, President of BOPA also signed a Covenant on behalf of his business Sachdev & Co and Lion Ravinder Sandhu, Regional Chair of Lions Clubs International signed on behalf of his businesss – Castle Estates.
We felt very proud that BOPA has been recognised as an advocacy group who works for the interests of British Armed Forces.
